Keto Spinach Dip Recipe
This keto spinach dip is similar to the Knorr Spinach Dip but without the extra ingredients and fillers. I love Knorr Spinach Dip but I don't love all the ingredients in the packets.
This recipe for keto spinach dip uses minimal ingredients and it tastes incredible. Plus it's fresh and can be made anytime without any dip or soup packets.
Low carb spinach dip is one of my favorite appetizers to serve at parties. It's naturally gluten-free and low in carbs if you make it from scratch.
This spinach dip recipe makes enough to serve a large crowd.
This low carb spinach dip recipe makes about 4 cups worth of dip. It can be stored in the refrigerator for up to two days but I'd be surprised if it lasted that long.

What to serve with spinach dip
Cold spinach dip is often served in a bread bowl but you can serve it in a ceramic bowl or a hollowed out bell pepper too.
I like to serve this easy spinach dip recipe with an array of sliced keto breads, Keto tortilla chips, keto crackers, pork rinds, and low carb vegetables.
Occasionally I dip a carrot or two in this dip (but I count the carbs).
You can also serve this keto spinach dip with fried cheese crisps, if you're okay doing dairy on dairy.

How to make keto spinach dip
Luckily cold keto spinach dip is a mix and serve kind of appetizer. Here's how to make keto spinach dip:
- Thaw the spinach and squeeze as much water out as you can. Wring it like a towel, not kidding.
- Chop up the spinach until its fine.
- In a small mixing bowl, mix the mayonnaise and sour cream.
- Add in the spices and mix until well combined.
- Stir in the spinach.
- Mix until the spinach is evenly incorporated throughout the dip.
You can serve this spinach dip right away but I prefer to let it chill in the refrigerator for an hour or so. Serve with your favorite keto bread, keto crackers, or chopped low carb veggies.

Can I use fresh spinach to make spinach dip
Yes, you can use fresh spinach to make this spinach dip. Chop the stems off of 12 ounces of fresh spinach and cook it in a skillet with a little oil.
Once the spinach has cooked down, let it cool to room temperature. Squeeze the liquid out just like you would with frozen spinach.
You can use your hands or a paper towel to remove the water from the cooked spinach. Spinach has a lot of liquid so keep squeezing. Once all the liquid is removed, chop the spinach and then add it to your dip.
Carbs in Spinach
Spinach is relatively low in carbs and high in nutrients. It's considered a super food and is one of the healthiest greens. There are very little carbs in spinach.
For those wondering how many carbs in spinach, it has about 1.1 g of total carbs per cup, 0.7 g of fiber, for a total of 0.4 g of net carbs. It's one of the best low carb vegetables and it can be enjoyed raw, or cooked.

Types of mayonnaise to use in keto spinach dip
I tested this spinach keto dip recipe with regular mayo, light mayo, avocado oil mayo and coconut oil mayo.
All were delicious but yielded slightly different results. The important thing to do is not use a mayo that might be flavored or have added sugars.
Regular full fat mayonnaise - this was my favorite. It had the best flavor and texture overall.
Low fat mayonnaise - the flavor was equally satisfying, just a little different and the spinach dip was a smidgen runnier.
Avocado oil mayonnaise - I really like this version. It had a unique flavor and was on the healthier side.
Coconut oil mayonnaise - This version wasn't my favorite. You couldn't taste the coconut but it had a vinegar zing to it.
I have used full fat Greek yogurt in place of the sour cream in this spinach dip recipe but I haven't tried other substitutes for the mayonnaise.
If you like your keto spinach dip a little more garlicky you can add an extra teaspoon of garlic powder. My girls both said that this cold spinach dip is amazing and reminds them a little of onion dip.

Keto Spinach Dip
Easy keto spinach dip using only seven ingredients, including spinach. There are very few carbs in spinach, making it a great option for creating dips. This low carb spinach dip is one of our favorites.
Ingredients
Spinach Dip:
- 10 oz. frozen spinach, chopped
- ¾ cup mayonnaise
- 1 ¼ cups sour cream
- ½ teaspoon gluten-free Worcestershire sauce
- 2 teaspoons onion powder
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
Instructions
- Thaw the spinach and squeeze as much water out as you can. Wring it like a towel, not kidding.
- Chop up the spinach until its fine. The reason I recommend chopping it is because the spinach stems get stringy in the dip if you leave them whole. Even with pre chopped frozen spinach.
- In a small mixing bowl, mix the mayonnaise and sour cream.
- Add in the Worcestershire sauce, onion powder, garlic powder and salt.
- Stir in the spinach and mix until everything is combined.
- Chill for at least an hour.
Notes
- Fresh spinach option - Chop the stems off of 12 ounces of fresh spinach and cook it in a skillet with a little oil. Once the spinach has cooked down, let it cool to room temperature. Squeeze the the liquid out just like you would with frozen spinach. You can use your hands or a paper towel. Spinach has a lot of liquid so keep squeezing until no more big drips of liquid come out. Once all the liquid is removed, chop the spinach and then add it to your dip.
- Net Carbs - There are 28 carbs and 8.5 grams of fiber in this entire recipe. The net carbs for this recipe are 19.5 grams total for the entire recipe.

My family loves this! The little ones call it fat girl spinach dip. My 6year old granddaughter loves making it. It never makes enough for family gathering lol. I love the fact that the little's dive into it and are getting a nutritious green. I use half and half mixture of sour cream and yogurt

This was really good. . I used Japanese Kewpie Mayo. What about adding cream cheese? does that still make it keto? So for the 3/4 cup mayonnaise, 1 1/4 cups sour cream currently in recipe, instead I would try 1/2 cup Mayo, 1 cup sour cream, 1/2 cup softened cream cheese.
Four Score Living
Hi Mary,
I'm so glad you liked it. You can add cream cheese, just make sure to add the carbs if you're counting macro.

Hello,
So I’ve begun my keto journey and wish to prepare your spinach dip which looks very delicious.
Can you please suggest some options as what to serve with it that is extremely low in carbs other than raw veggies?
Thanks a million!
Four Score Living
Pork rinds and cheese crisps or cheese chips are both great options that are low in carbs.
