KETO BBQ SAUCE RECIPE
A good keto BBQ sauce can really bring a recipe to a new level, flavor wise.
On a keto diet, you may be eating a good amount of meat. Chicken, steaks, and pork chops are all excellent high protein keto meals. Why eat plain, under seasoned meat when you can eat it smothered in this sugar free BBQ sauce that you made yourself?
Store bought barbecue sauces are often filled with tons of sugar, but sugar isn't needed when you have a Keto BBQ Sauce with this much rich, tangy, savory flavor.
And while you may find Keto BBQ sauces at the grocery store, isn't this way much more fun?
The keto bbq sauces that I've bought to try have been too sweet for me. I actually find that the less sugar I eat, the less sweet foods I like! So this non sweet keto BBQ sauce is perfect.

Make a double batch of this recipe so that you always have it on hand to add to your meat dishes.
WHY SHOULD I USE COCONUT AMINOS?
The reason most people choose to use coconut aminos in place of soy sauce is for health reasons. I use coconut aminos in this recipe to keep it gluten free. Coconut aminos come from the sap of the coconut tree rather than being made from soy, and are often lower in sodium than soy sauce.
If gluten, wheat, or soy aren't foods you avoid, then you can use regular or low sodium soy sauce in place of the coconut aminos in this bbq sauce recipe.
WHAT IF I DON'T HAVE ALL OF THE INGREDIENTS?
Each of the ingredients we put in to this homemade keto BBQ is important to getting the flavor right. Each ingredient has a job, and together they make a really amazing, balanced sugar free BBQ sauce.
If you don't have everything right now, I really suggest that you head to the store, rather than trying to leave out key flavor notes.
That said, you can add things to the sauce, or use the below as a guide for making substitutions that we've already tested for you.

IS BBQ KETO?
BBQ is, at its essence, meat that has been smoked or grilled. We know that in general, meat is high in protein and fat and low in carbs, so yes, BBQ is Keto!
In order to keep your smoked or grilled meat dishes keto, it's important that you pay attention to the sauces that you add.
That's why this keto bbq sauce recipe is so great because you will know that you aren't loading up your meal with added sugar.
IS BBQ SAUCE KETO FRIENDLY?
Typically bottled BBQ sauces are not keto friendly, since they are sweetened with sugar and often high fructose corn syrup.
Homemade BBQ sauce recipes, and those used by the popular BBQ restaurants are also going to be full of things like sugar, honey, maple syrup, and fruit syrups. None of that is going to be helpful for your keto way of eating.
This recipe allows you to enjoy BBQ sauce that you made yourself and that is sugar free and keto friendly.
CAN I EAT BBQ AT A RESTAURANT ON KETO?
It's not going to be easy, but you can enjoy food at a bbq restaurant while sticking to a keto diet. The best tips I can give are to order your meat plain, without any sauce, and avoid adding sauce to the BBQ.
Dry BBQ isn't really something I enjoy, so I generally try to eat BBQ at home where I can be sure I have lots of this delicious keto sauce on hand.

Karen
We made this sauce to have with wings that we made in the air fryer! It was really, really, good. I agree, most of the bottled keto bbq sauces I've tried have been too sweet. This sauce had lots of tangy flavor.
