    Why you'll love this recipe

With just a handful of ingredients that most people have in their kitchen, this recipe is super simple to make.

With a 5 minute prep and 8 minute broil time, this easy salmon bites recipe is ready in a flash.

These Salmon Bites have a delicious salty-n-sweet crust on the outside and are light and flaky on the inside. And did we mention that they make great leftovers?

Pair them with our fresh pineapple salad or burrata caprese salad for a light lunch.

    Key ingredients

Ingredients needed for making honey garlic salmon bites.

Soy Sauce (or Tamari Sauce )- This is your saltiness in the dish. Tamari is a great alternative to soy sauce if you are looking for a gluten-free recipe.

Honey- This ingredient adds the much needed sweetness that will balance out the saltiness of the soy sauce. It will also help create the perfect crust on the salmon which gives a great texture to the fish.

Garlic- Fresh garlic is recommended in this dish and compliments the other flavors in the marinade so well. You can also use store bought minced garlic if you're in a pinch for time. Garlic powder can also be used, but it is last on my list.

Fresh Ginger- Fresh ginger is a must for its spicy, unmistakable taste that is a staple in Asian-inspired dishes.

Salmon Fillet- It’s always recommended when purchasing any kind of fish to buy the highest quality fish you can afford. Wild Alaskan Salmon is a wonderful choice and contains an abundance of fats.

Fresh or frozen salmon can be used in this recipe. Just thaw the frozen salmon completely before soaking it in the marinade.

For a healthy and simple meal, serve with our steamed Brussels sprouts.

    How to make salmon bites

A bowl with soy sauce, honey, garlic, ginger and pepper mixed together.

Step 1: Combine soy sauce (or tamari sauce), honey, garlic, ginger, and cracked pepper in a medium mixing bowl.

Step 2: Add the salmon pieces to the marinade and toss/stir until the salmon is evenly coated. Let the salmon marinate at room temperature for 30 minutes, tossing/stirring half way through.

Marinated honey garlic salmon bites on a baking sheet lined with foil ready to be broiled.

Step 3: Place onto foiled lined baking sheet. Drizzle any remaining marinade from the bowl over the salmon. Broil in the oven for 4 to 5 minutes, and then turn each piece over and broil for another 2-3 minutes.

Cooked honey garlic salmon bites on a plate with rice topped with chopped scallions.

Step 4: Remove from the oven and allow them to sit for a couple of minutes before serving.

For dessert, we recommend our tender and moist almond flour chocolate cake.

    Expert Tips

Leave the skin on. It gets deliciously crispy, plus preparing the salmon is so much easier.

Try your best to cut the salmon in similar size pieces. This ensures it will cook evenly.

Set a timer. Salmon cooks quickly and will dry out, you don't want to walk away and forget.

    FAQs

Do I have to marinate my salmon bites?

You do not have to marinate your salmon, but it does add a lot of flavor. The marinade will also keep your salmon from drying out while cooking.

How long can you leave salmon out to marinate?

We recommend you do not leave out for more than 30 minutes at room temperature. Fish marinated for too long can get mushy.

What do you serve with salmon bites?

Salmon bites are truly great on their own, though they might be even better in a salad or in a salmon rice bowl. Some of our other favorite sides to include are a broccoli salad or steamed veggies, like broccoli and steamed Brussels sprouts or parmesan roasted Brussels sprouts. Or bring them to a BBQ paired with our sugar-free coleslaw, and be the talk of the party.

Salmon bites on a plate next to rice with scallions and red peppers scattered on top.

    Storage Instructions

Fridge: place your leftovers in a sealed container and store them in the fridge for up to 3 days. Simply reheat them in a pan or in the microwave until warmed through and enjoy.

Freezer: Can be stored in an airtight container in the freezer for up to two months.

Reheat: If frozen, allow to thaw in the fridge overnight. Remove from fridge and allow the chill to come off by leaving it on the counter for a few minutes.

You can broil them for a few minutes or pan fry them in a little butter.

Salmon bites are even delicious cold on a salad. Either way, these are top-notch leftovers.
