INGREDIENTS IN KETO TACO PIE
Ground Beef - About a pound of meat is perfect for this taco pie recipe. Use other ground meat if that's what you have available, but beef is traditional.
Taco Seasoning - Use your favorite type or brand here. Be sure to check the carb count if you're using store bought seasoning mixes, or make your own keto taco seasoning.
Heavy Cream - I always have heavy cream on hand. It's used in so many keto recipes because it's high in fat and low in carbs.
Eggs - Eggs bind your keto taco pie mixture together so it bakes up firm.
Garlic - I never need an excuse to add garlic to a recipe, and here it adds amazing flavor throughout the dish.
Cheddar Jack Cheese - This type of cheese melts beautifully in this recipe, but you could use just cheddar cheese or another type of cheese if you wish.
Salt - Seasoning with salt makes everything a little bit tastier.
Pepper - For the perfect hint of spice.

HOW TO MAKE KETO TACO PIE
- Preheat your oven. In a 9-inch cast iron skillet set over medium heat, crumble and brown ground beef until no longer pink.
- Add taco seasoning and some of the cream and stir until combined, then reduce heat to medium low and cook until sauce is thickened. Remove from heat.
- Meanwhile, in a large bowl, combine remaining cream, eggs, garlic, cheese, salt, and pepper. Pour over beef.
- Sprinkle with cheese and bake as directed in recipe.

This simple low carb taco pie often makes itself onto my dinner table without any side dishes. If you add enough toppings, it can totally stand on its own, but adding some sides makes it extra good.
IS KETO TACO PIE A QUICHE?
This recipe is actually very similar to a quiche. It's a crustless quiche style pie with eggs and heavy cream, full of taco meat and seasonings. You could certainly could call this a taco quiche!
HOW CAN I MAKE THIS SPICIER?
The base recipe here for Keto Taco Pie is not very spicy at all. This way it's suitable for kids and adults. Feel free to make yours spicy though.
Adding in some canned diced chilies or a few splashes of your favorite hot sauce should do the trick.
WHAT GROUND BEEF IS BEST?
I really believe that eating healthy most of the time, while sometimes indulging or not eating perfectly is the best way to live.
That being said, on a strict keto diet, you probably want to use quality, high fat, grass fed beef. In reality, any type of ground beef that you buy will work in this recipe.
IS TACO SEASONING KETO?
Many taco seasoning packets that you buy at the grocery store include added starches or flour that is meant to act as a filler and a thickener when making taco meat filling. They sometimes even include sugar.
You can read labels and compare when you’re shopping to try to find the lowest carb seasoning.
You can also make your own taco seasoning - I use this recipe for Keto Taco Seasoning and always keep extra on hand.
CAN YOU FREEZE KETO TACO PIE?
Yes! Cool your pie completely and then wrap to keep it air tight. Freeze for up to 3 months.
To serve, thaw it completely and then re-warm it in a 300F oven for about 15 minutes or until warmed through.
HOW TO REHEAT KETO TACO PIE
You can bake this pie and reheat when you're ready to enjoy it. From the refrigerator, reheat the taco pie in a 300°F oven, covered lightly with foil for 10-15 minutes or until heated through.
Single slices of taco pie can be reheated the same way, but will take less time.
The microwave also does a great, fast job of reheating leftover taco pie.
LOW CARB TACO PIE GARNISHES

HOW MANY CARBS IN KETO TACO PIE
Based on my calculations, each serving of this Low carb pie has 4 grams net carbs. That's not bad for a filling and satisfying meal.
Compared to the traditional Taco Pie recipe that calls for Bisquick, this recipe is just as good, with way less carbs.
You can reduce the amount of carbs in this dish by making a from scratch taco seasoning as mentioned above.
CAN I MAKE TACO PIE WITHOUT A CAST IRON PAN?
Yes! Cook your meat in a regular skillet. Mix the filling and transfer it to a deep dish pie pan that you've lightly sprayed with cooking spray. Bake as directed.

- ⅔ cup heavy cream, divided

- You can freeze this recipe after baking. To reheat, thaw completely and then bake at 300F until warmed through.
