    Why you'll love this recipe

There isn't anything more refreshing on a hot day than a nice cold glass of fresh lemonade.

Keto Lemonade is made with 3 simple ingredients allowing you to satisfy that sweet tooth.

Making it at home allows you to control the sweetness or tartness by varying the ratio of water to lemon juice.

    Key ingredients

Ingredients for lemonade in separate measuring cups.

Lemon juice - Always use fresh lemon juice. Bottled lemon juice has a different acidity level and it can taste artificial.

Sugar-free sweetener - You can use a sugar-free sweetener of choice. We used Swerve in this recipe.

If you have any questions about the ingredients, please leave a comment below.

Also, try our Keto Hot Chocolate. It has the perfect balance of sweetness and rich cocoa flavor. Also, try our keto coffee creamer.

    How to make keto lemonade

Water and sugar free sweetener in a medium size pot next to a measuring cup of lemon juice.

Step 1: Add water and sugar-free sweetener to a medium size pot. Bring to a boil and stir until the sugar-free sweetener is dissolved.

Keto lemonade fully mixed in a medium size pot next to an empty measuring glass.

Step 2: Remove from the stove and add the lemon juice. Stir until combined. Add additional sugar-free sweetener if desired, for taste. Cool to room temperature and store in the refrigerator.

For the complete list of instructions and quantities, see the printable recipe card below.

Serve this lemonade with our keto charcuterie board and our burrata caprese.

    Best tips

We use a simple hand operated hinged squeezer. A good firm squeeze gets a lot of juice and seems to pick up more of the lemon essence from the peel.

If you're going to make a big batch of lemonade we recommend using a manual citrus squeezer. Electric juicers are also good options.

Be aware that meyer lemons are naturally sweeter which means more carbs from the sugar.

Bonus – Peel some of the lemons before juicing and use the peels to make your own keto limoncello using the same low carb sweetener.

Just throw the used peels in with vodka of your choice and let soak for a week before adding syrup made with the low carb sweetener.

If you like vodka, you can make our white tea shots or green tea shots for your next game day get together.

    FAQs

Can I use bottled lemon juice to make keto lemonade?

We do not like using bottled lemon juice to make lemonade because it taste different. It's most likely the preservatives they add that alter the taste. Fresh lemons are always best.

What else can I add to spruce up my keto lemonade?

Try adding other keto friendly fruit like raspberries or sliced strawberries to your glass. Put a few mint leaves at the bottom of your glass then add the ice and lemonade to add a minty twist.

    Is bottled lemon juice keto-friendly?

Yes, bottled lemon juice is keto-friendly, as it is low in carbs. We do suggest that you still be mindful of serving size and always check the ingredients as some brands do add sugar.
While bottled lemon juice is keto, fresh lemon juice is always best.

This is very tasty! However, am I the only one wondering how 7 cups water and 1 cup juice makes just one quart lemonade? (According to my measuring cup 4 cups = 1 quart.)

Can you share the name and/or weblink of the juice squeezer you used for this recipe? I am having a difficult time deciding if I should get an electric one or a manual one, and if I get a manual one, which type since there are different types.

I personally like using a hand juicer, it stores and cleans easily. Our favorite is the yellow "Manual Juicer".

Very good! I made limeade but only added 8 tsp sweetener as I like a tarter drink. Thank you!

I made lemonade with 8 lemons and 64 oz. of filtered water. I used stevia to sweeten, about 2 table spoons. I like it a little tart. So refreshing! I also like lemony water with 1 or 2 drops of stevia to sip on as not to have too much sweetness so my taste buds won’t get use to sweet all the time or just a squeeze of lemon or lime. I just started ketos 3 week ago and I don’t miss the carbs so much. It took a couple weeks to buy all the many good things you need to really appreciate that it’s not really a diet but a life style of better eating habits and making healthy choices. I’m enjoying it so far I’ve felt satisfied and also enjoy fasting 1 or 2 days a week. I’m learning more great recipes too. It’s nice to have some cold or hot drink recipes too. With monk fruit and stevia and moderation you can enjoy this way of eating and feel a since of well-being.

        Hi Mari,
I am so glad you like it. I feel better when I eat sugar free and keto foods as well. I am glad you are enjoying it so far. The key is finding good recipes that you can make over and over again.

So delicious and equally guilt-free! But good lord, I’ve never had the runs so bad in my entire life. Drink in moderation, people! And be careful with calorie-free sweeteners in general—some people are more sensitive to them than others.

You can definitely have restroom issues if you drink the whole batch of lemonade in a day or two. If you like to sip on this lemonade all day, you could try stevia drops (start with a few drops and add more for sweetness).
