If you like making your own keto beverages at home you'll want to make this Keto Hot Chocolate. It has the perfect balance of sweetness to rich cocoa flavors.
Why you'll love this recipe
There isn't anything more refreshing to me on a hot day than a nice cold glass of fresh lemonade.
Keto Lemonade is an excellent alternative to sugary drinks as the low carb sweetener allows you to satisfy that sweet tooth without the insulin spike of a high carb drink.
All lemonade is not created equal, in order to balance the sour of lemon a lot of sugar gets added.
When you buy lemonade at the store you're letting someone else decide how much sugar and how many carbs are in it.
Making it at home is easier than you might think and allows you to use low carb sweetener. You can also control how sour it is by varying the ratio of water to lemon juice.
Lemon juice is a natural source of electrolytes including calcium, potassium, magnesium and traces of sodium.
Depending on how the juice is extracted it can also be a source of fiber. Citrus fruits, including lemons, are a well-known source of vitamin C - which makes lemonade not only a delicious beverage but a good source of vitamins.
For an extra dose of electrolytes, you can add your favorite sea salt to taste.
Drinking warm water with lemon juice is used by many people as a digestive aid.

Best tips
Use fresh lemon juice. Bottled lemon juice has a different acidity level and it can add a funny taste.
You can use your sugar-free sweetener of choice. We used Swerve in this recipe.
Make sure the cut-side of your lemon faces the holes in the squeezer, otherwise you will make a mess as the juice tries to escape the squeezer from the wrong side.
Be aware that meyer lemons are naturally sweeter which means more carbs from the sugar.
What type of juicer you use to make this low carb lemonade recipe will greatly effect pulp content and the amount of juice you get from your lemons.
We use a simple hand operated hinged squeezer. A good firm squeeze gets a lot of juice and seems to pick up more of the lemon essence from the peel.
If you're going to make a big batch of lemonade table I recommend using a top squeezer, like you see in bars. Electric juicers are also good options.
Bonus – Peel some of the lemons before juicing and use the peels to make your own keto limoncello using the same low carb sweetener.
Just throw the used peels in with vodka of your choice and let soak for a week before adding syrup made with the low carb sweetener.

So delicious and equally guilt-free! But good lord, I’ve never had the runs so bad in my entire life. Drink in moderation, people! And be careful with calorie-free sweeteners in general—some people are more sensitive to them than others.

You can definitely have restroom issues if you drink the whole batch of lemonade in a day or two. If you like to sip on this lemonade all day, you could try stevia drops (start with a few drops and add more for sweetness).

I made lemonade with 8 lemons and 64 oz. of filtered water. I used stevia to sweeten, about 2 table spoons. I like it a little tart. So refreshing! I also like lemony water with 1 or 2 drops of stevia to sip on as not to have too much sweetness so my taste buds won’t get use to sweet all the time or just a squeeze of lemon or lime. I just started ketos 3 week ago and I don’t miss the carbs so much. It took a couple weeks to buy all the many good things you need to really appreciate that it’s not really a diet but a life style of better eating habits and making healthy choices. I’m enjoying it so far I’ve felt satisfied and also enjoy fasting 1 or 2 days a week. I’m learning more great recipes too. It’s nice to have some cold or hot drink recipes too. With monk fruit and stevia and moderation you can enjoy this way of eating and feel a since of well-being.

Hi Mari,
I am so glad you like it. I feel better when I eat sugar free and keto foods as well. I am glad you are enjoying it so far. The key is finding good recipes that you can make over and over again.

Very good! I made limeade but only added 8 tsp sweetener as I like a tarter drink. Thank you!

Can you share the name and/or weblink of the juice squeezer you used for this recipe? I am having a difficult time deciding if I should get an electric one or a manual one, and if I get a manual one, which type since there are different types.

I personally like using a hand juicer, it stores and cleans easily. Our favorite is the yellow "Manual Juicer".

This is very tasty! However, am I the only one wondering how 7 cups water and 1 cup juice makes just one quart lemonade? (According to my measuring cup 4 cups = 1 quart.)

You're right, it's 2QTs. I'll fix it. Thank you.
