Flaky, buttery keto cheddar biscuits made with a few simple ingredients that most people who live a keto lifestyle have in their kitchen.
These keto biscuits are a spin off my keto blueberry scones recipe and it includes a dairy-free option.
Keto Cheddar Biscuits Recipe
These biscuits are our go-to for everything keto biscuits. We serve them as a side for keto chili. We also love enjoying them with Keto Chicken Fried Steak.
These keto biscuits are crunchy on the top and edges and tender in the center.
While they don’t have the same crumb as a non keto biscuit, they are incredible and most people can't tell that they are made with almond flour.
How to make keto cheddar biscuits
- Add the almond flour, baking soda, garlic powder, onion powder, and salt to a medium mixing bowl. Mix until combined.
- In a separate mixing blow, add the egg, heavy whipping cream, melted and cooled butter and mix until combined. Cold heavy whipping cream and a cold egg work best.
- Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients.
- Mix until combined and your dough starts to form a ball.
- Fold in the cheese.
- Transfer the dough to a piece of wax or parchment paper and press down until the dough is about 1 inch thick.
- Using a biscuit cutter, cut biscuits and transfer them to a parchment lined baking sheet. They will rise during baking. Alternatively, separate the dough into eight to ten even dough-balls and place them on a baking sheet, flattening them slightly to make biscuits. Brush the tops with melted butter or additional heavy whipping cream and sprinkle a little sea salt on top of each keto biscuit.
- Bake as directed. Let cool completely before serving.

For taller keto cheddar biscuits
These biscuits rise but they also spread due to the amount of cheese added.
You can spread the dough to two inches thick instead of one inch thick before cutting out the biscuits.
You can also place the dough in the refrigerator for 1 hour before using the biscuit cutter. Then cut and bake as directed.
Chilling the dough will prevent it from spreading too much as it bakes.
Keto Biscuits
You can mix up the flavors of these keto scones. Here are a few ideas:
Add 1 tablespoon of dried chives, parsley, or your favorite green herbs.
1 teaspoon of fresh minced garlic.
Mix up the cheese flavors. Pepper Jack Cheese and Jalapeño Jack make excellent biscuits.
The nutrition information in the recipe card below includes cheddar cheese. If you swap any ingredients please make sure to update the carb count.
Dairy-Free Keto Biscuits
If you want to make these keto scones dairy-free swap the heavy whipping cream for unsweetened dairy-free milk, and the butter for melted and cooled coconut oil.
Leave out the cheese or mix in your favorite dairy-free cheese.
If you don't need to eat keto, you'll want to try these gluten free biscuits. They are buttery and flaky.
Tips for making keto biscuits:
Make sure the egg and heavy whipping cream are cold. This will help the dough hold together.
Use unsweetened dairy-free milk, dairy-free cheese (it melts a little different) and coconut oil to make this dairy-free.
These keto biscuits are best when enjoyed within 24 hours.
You can freeze the leftovers and reheat them.
Working with Almond Flour
When working with almond flour, if you’re not baking with weight measurements, you’ll need to make sure you spoon your flour into your measuring cup and then level it with the back of a knife.
Don’t scoop your measuring cup into the almond flour. It packs it down and you’ll end up with too much almond flour.
